Fun Fly with the EAA Youth Program

On Saturday April 19 2025, the EAA Chapter 534 from Leesburg Florida, joined Larks-RC Flying Club for a day of fun. The Larks-RC furnished trainer airplanes and member support to introduce the Members of the Youth Program to the exciting and challenging sport of flying a RC Airplane.

The day started out a 8:30 am with a sign up and introductory and safety meeting. The winds were cooperating for the while and the flying started. With the assistance of Larks-RC Club members, Scott, Steve, Bill, Bob and Jim, the fun began. One by one the youth from the EAA were subjected to the challenge of RC flying.

We had anticipate that approximately 6 -8 of the youth program would show up for the day, and to our surprise and delight, we had 16 youth wishing to fly. The Larks-RC flying field was a buzz of activity including parents, EAA coordinators and Larks members.

Although we had to call off the flying at 11 am due to gusting winds that made it very hard to fly, all had a great time and we agreed to do it again.

Thanks go out to all the members of the Larks-RC club for their assistance, participation and donations. David Clutts donated two airplanes and Stephen Bell donated a plane. Without the donations and assistance from the club, this day would not have been possible. Thanks again for your time and donations.
